Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a tight third set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
