Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior political figure said the incident left him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
